Benefits of Underfloor Heating
It is completely unobtrusive. The walls are clear and you can place furniture where you wish. There are no hot surfaces. There is nothing to be routinely cleaned, repainted or that can get damaged. As a result of not having to heat the air, the relative humidity is not disturbed.
The air is not made as dry and condensation is also reduced. This is of particular benefit to the elderly, those with breathing disorders and arthritis. It is also beneficial to furniture and paintings. By avoiding the circulation of air, the amount of dust is greatly reduced. This reduces the amount of cleaning which has to be done and the frequency of redecoration.
It is much more energy efficient. It is possible to warm a floor to 24° C - 27° C with water which is much cooler than that needed by radiators. The absence of 'hot spot' wall hung radiators provides greater safety to room users: from children to the elderly and infirm.
In floor 'invisible' heat also provides the maximum available wall space within homes, shops, offices, sports halls, etc., for the positioning of window drapes, furniture and fittings. The absence of convection eliminates dirty 'streaking' and allows decor to last longer. There is conclusive research which shows radiant underfloor heating eliminates ‘Sick Building Syndrome’ because it does not alter the positive and negative ions in the heated area.
