Eco Home Heating

eco-energy

UK households consume far more energy heating their homes than the electrical power they use for appliances and lights. In 2005 the United Kingdom consumed 354 TWh of electricity, but used 907 TWh of energy for heating, mostly from gas. This makes for a very significant carbon footprint and a considerable gas and electric bill. Given the requirement and cost of heating UK homes, eco efficiencies and cost savings make very happy and necessary bed fellows.

Even though the installation of some more ecologically friendly and renewable heat sources can be costly the long term reduction in fuel costs make a very convincing argument for consideration and at the same time they deliver a considerable body blow to your carbon output.

The Energy Efficiency of Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating systems can be fuelled by almost any source. In the UK they are mostly supplied by boilers which run on gas or electricity but because they require much lower temperatures of water (as low as 50-60°C), they can easily be fuelled by far more energy efficient, green and renewable heat sources.

In many cases condensing boilers are the best choice to be paired with this kind of heating as they work very well at the lower temperatures. But the systems can easily work with solar panels, heat pumps, or a heat recovery system.

These energy systems can be used in various combinations to heat the water on their own or alongside a boiler. We've had reports of fuel savings of between 45 and 80 percent from past clients. This covers - 45% for shops, despite frequently opened street doors and large single glazed windows onto street, 60% fuel saving for housing, and up to 80% fuel savings for buildings with high internal dimensions - sports and recreation halls, school assembly halls, indeed all buildings with high ceilings.
